Someone that has certainly demanded our attention in 2022 is the wonderfully enigmatic Nuha Ruby Ra. Her provocative, banshee-like presence is infused into every element of her art, from the instrumentation to the aesthetic accompanying visuals. Having recently announced a new EP, Machine Like Me, which is set to follow 2021's eclectic How To Move, the singles we've heard so far have been nothing short of spectacular. The playfully avant-garde 'My Voice' conjures nuances of some of Yoko Ono's wildly left-field works, whilst her latest offering 'Self Portraiture' is a siren that turns inwards for answers. Having paid her dues on the festival circuit this year, as well as selling out her recent London headline show with ease, Nuha Ruby Ra is honing her craft and moving from strength to strength. -Holly Mullineaux
